Drum scanning nyc is a New York based company specialized in archival drum scanning and image retouching services. We are located in Willamsburg, and in Chelsea. Our company is run by photographers providing services for other photographers. We are also available to scan and process larger scale archiving projects for institutions and museums.
The founder of “Drum scanning nyc”, Mr Kallio has more than a decade of experience in both printing and photography industries. He has worked through the major transition from wet dark room B/W printing to exhibition quality digital color printing and everything in between and has a very solid idea how a technically perfect photographic scan/print should look like.
Drum scanning nyc provides the client drum scans to the maximum optical resolution to match the fullest potential of your film originals and make it possible to produce large-scale fine art prints without limitations. We are also experts scanning color negatives. Drum scanning 16bit uses the best scanner around, Aztek Premier, matched with their sophisticated software Digital Photo Lab to guarantee the best results possible. We aim to give you the best archival scan from your film original.
Being photographers ourselves we know how demanding it can be to produce a good scan and to get the most out of your film original. We only scan and save 48-bit (16-bit / channel RGB) files, unless customer requires otherwise, say goodbye to frustrating and limiting 8bit scans. We understand that, even though we make sure you get as much data as possible from your original you might want to tweake the image one way or the other to match your vision better and we want to make sure you can do that without a compromized histogram.
We clean your film original with Kami film cleaner, mount with Kami scanning fluid, analyze and match the film grain to the right aperture and scan your film. Spotting is included*. We save your scanned file into the standard Adobe RGB (1998) colorspace, as a lossless tiff file, or if required ProPhoto RGB colorspace. Your drum scans are delivered via dropbox service. Large format, 4x5 and 8x10, dust clean up will cost extra due to the large surface area and inevitable dust build up during shooting. We do not require clients to cut their film strips into individual frames for scanning.
